THE LAUNCH OF THE TRUSTED ART GUIDE

An Evening at The Wykeham Gallery

I launched The Trusted Art Guide at a fun evening of prosecco, canapes, music and talks at The Wykeham Gallery in Stockbridge. It was a well-attended event and in line with the times, the event was also on Zoom with people joining from around the globe including New Zealand, Antigua and Switzerland giving the evening a truly international flavour!

It was the perfect place for my launch, surrounded by beautiful paintings and sculpture. Music was provided by the Grange String Trio – the stage was set!

I introduced myself and the service talking about the importance of art in the home for general well-being, that the art we choose for our homes should reflect our personalities, our memories, hopes and aspirations and if we get it right, the power of these art works will bring us a lifetime of joy. The service is all about guiding the client towards pieces that really resonate, transforming their house into a home.

I introduced my two guest speakers – Sophie Hacker, the Winchester based renowned stained-glass artist and all-round artist, and Dinah Mason, an artist and art psychotherapist from Somerset, who both talked about their work and related it to the healing power of art.

Sophie brought a “show and tell” table and talked about the different types of glass used in creating stained glass and how a modern glass panel in a door, window or wall became part of the structure of the home as well as a piece of art.

Dinah talked about the origins of art in the home – the cave paintings from thousands of years ago and how even then the art represented the artists memories, hopes and aspirations. She then talked about the therapeutic power of art and our changing reactions to it as we change from childhood to adulthood.

The Final thought of the Evening

I wrapped up the evening with a last thought – that it is important to remember that your home is where your heart is. When you move house, you and your heart will settle more quickly if you are surrounded by things you love. The right pieces of art go from home to home because they reflect your personality. Therefore, the right art is worth the investment – it will be something you never regret!
